Changing Windows 7 Log-on Screen Background

Changing Windows 7 Log-on Screen Background

Up until windows 7, changing your log-on screen background required you to use a resource hacker to replace bitmaps in log-on screen DLLs.
Now, in windows 7, you can change your log-on screen background by creating a few registery keys, files and folders.
However, there is numerous tools that have been created that will do this for you. Using a tool is a safer, and better option.
The tool used in this tutorial even provides a restore option to revert back to default settings. You literally cannot mess this one up.

Step 1: Download the tweak Here.

Step 2: Extract the zip somewhere, and place the tweak somewhere that it can reside permanently.

Step 3: Open the program by double clicking the Application.

You'll be presented with the following program:

Step 4: Press "Change Log-on Screen" and choose the wallpaper image you want to be displayed at log-on.
(Note: The image has to be 256kb file size or smaller. You can use This Website to size them down. Use "Small File Size" in quality, and set the dimensions equal to your images'.)

Step 5: Hit "test" to preview your new background on the lock screen.

That's it! If you ever want to restore the OEM background, fire up the program and hit "revert".

Enjoy :)
